And then he looked at me.

Like he hadn’t done in over five years.

Like he wanted me.

Not fair, Harry.

I knew why his daughter starting school would trigger it, I was half expecting it.

Change.

When Harry felt he was detaching from his world, when he was losing control.

When he needed, I don’t know, validation?

Not again.

I couldn’t.

Then Hermione took Teddy’s hand – he was already holding Alex’s – and managed to catch Charlie and Philip, and she turned to us. “I’ll take them home,” she said. “Why don’t you go for a drink?”
